There is a ton of discussion in child welfare about connection. Its the foundation of attachment between a child and parent, it is crucial for teens aging out so they know how to create the relationships they want for themselves as adults.
But the lawyers, so many of us doing this work are on our own. I mean, sure, we are with other lawyers doing lawyering, but as I say all the time: dependency is different. It would just be nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of or get an idea for a creative solution. Its all for the good of the kids and families in our communities, so people would help. But how in the world would we find them?
Well, we are going to try to gather a few here. We are going to try to expand and grow so children's lawyers have a place to come to reach each other. We have the podcast of course, but we're going to offer some trainings geared toward less experienced attorneys and see if people like them. We will build it on our Permanency Focused Practice Philosophy, so if you want a preview, click HERE. And let us know what you think - how could finding other lawyers out in the world be helpful to you?
