meet the podcast hosts

Angela, Jim and John are co-hosts of The Children’s Law Podcast and co-founders of True North Child Advocates. In addition to the podcast, we provide training and consulting in states on a limited basis. If you are interested in learning more, please email us at info@childrenslaw.org.
Angela Orkin
Angela has been working in the child advocacy field for over 26 years. She first worked at KidsVoice in Pittsburgh representing children in dependency court.
After moving to Florida, she became the first executive director of the Statewide Guardian Ad Litem Office, and substantially increased the number of children represented. For this work, she received the National Association of Counsel for Children's Outstanding Legal Advocate Award.
Angela has consistently brought new funding to child serving organizations by lobbying for state funds, pursuing grants from foundations, and designing campaigns for individual donors. Now living in Par, Angela consults with statewide child advocacy agencies and non-profits.

Jim Walsh
Jim has been representing foster children for over 20 years and is a co-creator of the Foster Children's Project, a recipient of the Congressional Angels in Adoption Award.
He has spoken and written nationally on the subject of child representation. Jim has a special interest in helping kids heal by finding their passion and letting them pursue it.
When Jim is not representing foster children in court, he can be found travelling, observing the practice of children's advocacy.
John Walsh
John has been representing children for over 20 years and is a co-creator of the Foster Children's Project, a recipient of the Congressional Angels in Adoption Award.
He has spoken and written on foster children's rights nationally and was featured in the book "Democracy's Local Heroes" for his work with foster children.
When John isn't recording the podcast or otherwise trying to spread the word that advocacy has the power to transform child welfare, he can be found running the Juvenile Advocacy Project and Foster Children's Project in West Palm Beach.
